About Me
Hello all.
My name is Matthew.
I always get stuck in situations where I either have to speak or write about myself. My handle is innerproject because I strongly feel that turning inward is quite a project. Indeed, a very important one as I understand more about my own purpose in this life.
Traditionally, I come from a very Christian orientated background. I left the “faith” at a very young age after the death of my father. Yet, I always have carried the virtues and wisdoms it aims to instill with me till this day.
Currently, I practice two forms of meditation, which have made a positive impact on my life. One of them is called Vipassana. Which is a Pali word for “Insight” (http://www.dhamma.org/) This practice stems from the original teachings of Gautama Buddha and I have found it to be greatly beneficial in effort of gaining new awareness of one’s true essence. In it’s original form, it is very non-secular, almost scientific in approach. So many people of all races, creeds and religions have practiced this technique with profoundly positive results. In fact, many report it has made them have a greater, more experiential understanding of their own religious practices.
The other form of meditation I practice is more like therapy. It is called Hakomi ( www.hakomiinstitute.com ) and it stems from Japan. Hakomi incorporates the belief that we all inherently possess inner strength, wisdom, and capacity for healing and growth. Highly effective and a great complimenting practice to Vipassana.
On a more personal level, I’m currently 35, a father of four magnificent young girls. They truly are a light in my life, sometimes a light house. I have a partner in my life (mommy to two of them) who has been an amazing part of my life. We don’t always see eye to eye, but we definitely challenge each other and I happen to feel that’s when a relationship is truly working its magic. It’s great to get along, and when we do it is pure magic. But it’s also a great spiritual exercise to expand your level of compassion and understanding for others past your own set of ideas of what love means.
My day job is a graphic designer for a large company. In my spare time I like to compose music/songs in my home studio. I’d like to get back into animation and sketching/painting. When the flow comes, I grab my raft and ride it all the way. When the river isn’t flowing, I don’t sweat it much these days. It all comes in accepting the moment of now as it is.
I’m interested in meeting new people of all kinds as I have allowed myself to become a little anti-social. I feel it would be a positive effort to keep that in check. Life is about making inner and outer connections and not fighting the current.
Absolute love and peace to every single being out there.
Graphically speaking, Matthew
